"We simply need to get through them"

Fernando Alonso has acknowledged that Aston Martin is likely to face more challenges at upcoming power-demanding circuits, after departing Baku without any points, stating that the car was destined to struggle.

Starting from 11th place, the 44-year-old veteran recognized that he required some chaos among the leaders to secure points—but instead faced a largely uneventful race. "That was expected. Nothing happened to the suspension today," he remarked sarcastically on DAZN, referencing his earlier bad luck at Monza, which the team attributed to gravel.

"The characteristics of this car meant we anticipated being the slowest here," the two-time champion noted. "In Las Vegas, we’ll likely be the slowest, and in Mexico, we’ll probably be the slowest too. Of the remaining eight races, we expect to finish last in three of them. We just have to endure those."

Alonso highlighted Aston’s main drawback as being straight-line speed, with excessive drag negating any benefits from recent high-downforce updates. "On circuits with long straights, we lag behind," he admitted. "On others like Singapore or Brazil, there are minor opportunities. That's why Zandvoort and Monza were particularly painful when we dropped points there," he acknowledged.

Nevertheless, Alonso affirmed his commitment to take advantage of opportunities when they arise. "We relish it when we can make a difference. When the car dictates the outcome, it's something we have to accept."
