Elbon: Perhaps our weakness will become our strength.

In Baku Carlos Sainz scored 15 points for Williams, which allowed the British team to consolidate its position in fifth place in the Constructors' Championship, although Racing Bulls are not that far behind.

On the one hand, Alex Albon doubts that the characteristics of the Singapore circuit will allow the FW47 to fully show its speed potential, but on the other hand he does not rule out that a good result is possible this weekend.

Alex Albon: "I'd say that usually we don't achieve much at this circuit, but this year we've repeatedly shown that the picture we've seen in previous years doesn't necessarily have to repeat itself.

We're curious to see what results we can achieve. We usually don't like high-downforce tracks, but we've already noticed that we're able to set the car up well by choosing the ride height. It's clear the surface at this track is quite uneven, so perhaps our weakness will become our strength, and we may be able to handle the tasks ahead fairly well.

Actually in Baku we were quick all weekend, but my qualifying went badly. Of course I was disappointed, but my teammate proved that our car is capable of great pace. Although some might think Marina Bay is similar to the Baku City Circuit, in reality it is very different.

Let's say it requires a different approach both because of the high temperatures and because of the nature of the surface, which has a lot of bumps. Overall, I'm a bit more pessimistic at the moment, although I believe we can still fight for points.

That said, I want to point out that the team is really on the up and everyone at Williams is highly motivated. So I don't think Carlos's podium could have made that fighting spirit any stronger. The energy that defines our team and its traditions is infectious. And the podium primarily confirmed that, becoming another sign of the positive changes to come.

Perhaps the team achieved this result a little earlier than we expected, but it shows that we are doing everything right. I want to say that at some point the team had to produce such a result — after all, I've finished fifth more than once — and Carlos's podium was simply confirmation for everyone in Grove that the team is on the rise.

I believe that of the midfield teams Williams has made the most noticeable progress — it seems we take a big step forward every year. This year it's definitely bigger than in the previous seasons I've spent with this team. Maybe that sounds naive, but I've always believed in this team, always known that we could get onto the podium. We'll keep striving to perform more consistently, and then the opportunities to succeed will increase."
