Piastri: We cannot afford to repeat Baku.

At the last round in Baku, championship leader Oscar Piastri had an accident and scored no points, but he hopes to make up for it in Singapore…

Oscar Piastri: "Regardless of who won the race back then, I think we don't want weekends like Baku anymore; we can't afford that.

Of course, it was a tough lesson for me, but as a team we see several opportunities this weekend to try to improve the situation, and that's always important.

In qualifying I simply overdid it, and in the race it was difficult to immediately grasp what happened at the start. I drew conclusions. I would call them 'lessons in risk.' But there is nothing I need to change about myself or my approach. In 16 out of 17 weekends my approach worked very well. If you focus on what went well, it'll continue to do so. Nothing revolutionary. Mistakes happen.

The points gap? You know, I don't follow the championship standings. The race in Baku was a good reminder, first, of how quickly things can change, and second, of some of the things that have made the season so successful for me and the team. I think if we just try to focus on those, the situation in the championship will naturally sort itself out."
