Sainz: We should be satisfied, given the circumstances

Carlos Sainz started eighteenth in Singapore after being disqualified from the qualifying results for his car's non-compliance with the technical regulations. Nevertheless, the Williams driver managed to finish tenth and earn his team one point.

His teammate Alex Albon started the race from the pit lane and finished fourteenth.

Carlos Sainz (10th): "Given the circumstances, we should be happy and can be proud of today's performance. The race was fairly straightforward with no safety cars, but I was still able to make up positions and score a valuable point after starting from 18th.

I managed to stay on the Mediums longer than everyone else, and after switching to the Softs I put in a very quick stint and made several overtakes. There was potential to fight for higher positions today, but I'm still pleased with the race. We'll take the lessons learned and start preparing for the upcoming races."

Alex Albon (14th): "Starting from the pit lane I knew today would be something of a test. We fitted test setups to gather data, but they didn't work. It's no big deal, since the data can still be used in future races.

I had good pace on an empty track, but I spent most of the race in traffic and under blue flags. Even on fresh tyres I had to wait for the cars that had lapped me to catch up to the cars ahead. It was one of those races where there was nothing I could do, especially as no safety car was deployed.

We'll take the lessons from the weekend and try to put things right for the next round in Austin."
