The stewards fined Lewis Hamilton.
The stewards of the Singapore Grand Prix fined Lewis Hamilton for multiple track limits violations.
During the hearing the Ferrari driver confirmed that he had indeed gone off track several times while trying to cope with an emerging brake problem. The stewards did not consider this a mitigating reason and applied the standard penalty for such an infringement — a five-second addition to his result.
After the penalty was applied Lewis Hamilton dropped from seventh to eighth in the Singapore Grand Prix finishing order, ceding the place to Fernando Alonso.
