Ayo Komatsu: I am very happy for Oliver and for the whole team.

Oliver Bearman was competing in Singapore for the first time, but today he was the one who secured valuable points for Haas F1 by finishing ninth, while Esteban Ocon, despite all his experience, managed only a distant 18th.

Oliver Bearman (9th): "I'm very happy. After the incident on the first lap (in the first seconds after the start there was contact between my Haas VF-25 and Racing Bulls driver Isack Hadjar's car) I dropped back to 10th, after which Nico Hülkenberg, who was very quick, started to threaten me.

On the first stint I had difficulties due to the car's balance, but after the pit stops we moved up well, and it seemed we could challenge for 8th place because Fernando Alonso had a delay in the pits.

Unfortunately, then we lost position to him, because today he was faster than us. But I'm glad I scored points — that was very important, because we performed very well this weekend on the demanding Singapore circuit."

Esteban Ocon (18th): "It was clear from the outset that I would face tough tasks, but at least we got ahead of one rival at the start, and then in the first two laps I managed to gain two more positions.

At a certain stage we were catching Lance Stroll, and it seemed our situation was gradually improving. But I stayed out too long, and when we finally pitted we lost everything we had gained. We couldn't recover because we ended up in a DRS train behind the cars ahead of us.

There's really nothing more to say about this race. It feels like it was a weekend of missed opportunities."

Aio Komatsu, team principal: "I'm glad that we finally managed to operate normally this weekend, although the race was not easy for the whole team. But we were able to turn the 9th position secured in qualifying into 9th in the race and score points, although it took a lot of hard work.

It's a pity Alonso got ahead of us, but although we showed decent pace, the Aston Martin was faster. Still, we executed well this weekend, and I'm very happy for Oliver and for the whole team.

I agree that when a car is in a DRS train it's hard to overtake, but Alonso still managed to get past us, so we need to analyze whether this was related to the car's characteristics or some other reason.

As for Esteban, he was quick in practice, so he has the pace, and overall I'm pleased that we're leaving Singapore having scored a couple of points.

We need to try to continue that in Austin, and we want both drivers to score points at the next round of the season."
