Franco Colapinto: We need to continue the fight

It was an unsuccessful weekend in Singapore for Alpine; the team conceded two more points to Haas F1, losing the chance to move off last place in the Constructors' Championship…

Franco Colapinto (16th): “A long race with lots of tense battles – it was interesting, but the car lacked pace, and toward the end I lost several positions due to tyre wear.

I had a good start, gained a few places in the opening corners and was confidently running in the midfield on Softs. Knowing how hard it is to overtake on this track, we pitted early trying to make up ground with an undercut to score points.

We tried to manage tyre life, but because of the wear and having to move off the racing line due to blue flags in the final laps it was difficult to hold off rivals on fresher rubber. This isn’t what we wanted, but we have to keep fighting, and better results will come.”

Pierre Gasly (19th): “It’s hard to think about the result when starting from the pit lane in Singapore. Lately I haven’t felt comfortable in the car; we adjusted the setup and changed the floor to better understand the cause – that may help in the future. We knew the race would be tough, but I’m glad to have had a few battles, even if they didn’t bring us points.

I hope we’ll be better in Austin – that circuit suits our car more than street tracks, where grip is lacking and there are many bumps.”
