Toto Wolff suggests holding a race in South Korea.
The Korean Grand Prix was held from 2010 to 2013 in Yeongam, but then the promoters stopped staging the event for financial reasons. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff believes Formula 1 should return to that country to tap into a growing market.
Toto Wolff: "Formula 1 hasn't had a presence in that market for a long time, but Formula 1 has grown significantly over the past ten years, especially among the younger target audience. Our fastest-growing demographic group is young women aged 15 to 24, and they are very active on social media.
Social media are very popular in South Korea, so it would be great if we could return and show how Formula 1 has changed over the past ten years.
Stefano Domenicali always looks for balance when putting together the calendar. Of course, obvious commercial factors are taken into account, but there is also long-term planning. In my view, Formula 1 still has a gap in East Asia."
