Horner connected to Elkann-Ferrari discussions

Christian Horner's future after Red Bull is once again a topic of discussion in the F1 community, with both British and Italian media reporting that he has communicated with Ferrari chairman John Elkann.

The Telegraph and Daily Mail state that Horner and Elkann engaged in initial talks in recent weeks regarding a potential position at Maranello, which could align with increasing uncertainty about Frederic Vasseur's long-term role, despite his re-signing mid-season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Paolo Filisetti has noted that speculation in Italy is also rising, stating, "Vasseur’s future will depend on the performance of the car in 2026, despite his contract renewal in July."

Conversely, Austria’s Osterreich newspaper proposed an entirely different scenario, suggesting that Horner might reunite with important former Red Bull members at Aston Martin. The publication referred to this as a possible "Red Bull reunion," highlighting that Adrian Newey is already on the team and that Max Verstappen is still rumored to be associated with Aston Martin.

Adding to the intrigue, Toto Wolff was allegedly overheard discussing Horner’s availability with Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll during the Singapore GP weekend. Shortly after, Wolff stated publicly that Formula 1 "misses" the former Red Bull chief.

Now, Wolff's wife, Susie Wolff, who leads the F1 Academy, has shared her perspective in an interview with The Sunday Times. "Christian was supportive of the F1 Academy, and for that, I’ll always be thankful," she remarked. "It was unfortunate for the sport—the entire drama created by the allegations. We were gaining significant positive momentum with the F1 Academy when everything changed, and suddenly everyone wanted to interview me about that."

"He was someone who played a role very well. However, I believe that incident may not have been the best for the sport's image and highlighted that we still have work to do."

Meanwhile, Aston Martin’s new team principal Andy Cowell described the rumors of Verstappen moving to Aston Martin as "flattering" but refrained from confirming any discussions.
