Charles Leclerc: It looks like that's the car's full potential.

Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are disappointed with the results of the sprint qualifying in Austin. Both are unhappy with the car’s handling and do not expect progress in the remaining sessions this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton (8th): “This is definitely not the pace we were expecting. I don’t know what the reason is. In Friday’s practice everything looked fine, we did a decent first part of qualifying, and then we started to fall back.

The car is very, very difficult to drive, so we’ve lost ground. I was eight tenths off pole — that’s a lot.”

Charles Leclerc (10th): “I was losing time throughout the lap. To be honest, I drove my attempt in the final cleanly, and I don’t regret how I approached the flying lap.

Maybe it would have helped if I’d done more laps on Medium in practice. I might have clawed back a tenth or one and a half tenths, but that still isn’t enough. Right now we’re way off the pace.

I’ll be surprised if we manage to find a solution that allows us to move forward significantly. I hope I’m wrong, but it seems that this is the car’s full potential. The McLaren and Red Bull results are expected, while the results of the other teams have been a surprise this weekend — they’re unexpectedly strong.

Nico Hülkenberg is starting ahead. He probably put together a brilliant lap, but he’s been consistently quick this weekend. We need to understand if there’s something we’re missing, but today we had a very poor performance.”
