George Russell: I'm glad I tried to attack Max

      George Russell finished second in the United States Grand Prix sprint. During the sprint the Mercedes driver tried to attack the leader Max Verstappen, but the move didn't succeed and both drivers went off the track. After the sprint George commented on his actions.

      George Russell: "I knew I wasn't going to have many opportunities to go up against Max, so when I saw even a half-chance I decided to take it. I guess I was too far back [for the move to be successful], but I'm glad I tried. Second place is a better result than we expected, so good points."

      Commenting on the start and the rivals' collision in the first corner, Russell said: "I went into the corner on the outside line, and at that moment I realised that everyone else had also gone into the corner, but on the inside line.

      Carlos and I both thought at that moment, 'This doesn't look good.' I didn't see exactly what happened, but it seems three cars tried to go where there was room for one. Usually that doesn't end well."
