Charles Leclerc: “Compared to last year the car hasn’t changed much, but right now it lacks speed. In terms of qualifying pace and race pace everything is pretty similar to last year. In race trim we’re quite strong, but in qualifying we don’t have the same grip on the track as our rivals, especially in the first sector, which badly affects the overall lap time. So the car is almost the same, just slower.
If we manage to get a good start in the race that could help, although I don’t think the pace is enough to fight for the win. But never say never. Last year we were very surprised by the speed we could show on a clear track. I hope we get the same kind of surprise on Sunday, although it’s unlikely.”
