Lando Norris: I have a better mindset now.
Lando Norris arrived in Brazil as the new championship leader – before that he had headed the standings only in the first four rounds of the season, but after the April Saudi Arabian Grand Prix his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri moved ahead.
Since Lando's lead is literally minimal and amounts to just one point, in São Paulo he has a very specific task.
Lando Norris: "Of course, I'd like to perform this weekend at the same level I did in Mexico, although that will be very difficult given the strength of the opponents. So what my personal expectations are and how things will actually turn out are two different things.
But will anything change if I keep thinking about how well things went at the previous round? Of course not. I definitely feel I have a better psychological mindset now than I did at the start of the season, although back then I had far more problems.
Of course, there are difficulties now too, but my situation is much more favorable than it was in the spring, and that's due to a whole host of reasons. So I expect I can perform confidently this weekend – it's quite likely things will go as they should. However, in Brazil you never know what the weather will be like, so in reality any of us could prevail.
At the previous round I proved to myself that I can dominate, and that's nice. However, the job isn't done; we're still a long way from the end. There are more than 100 points still to be contested, so the fact that I'm leading the championship doesn't mean much. I need to win this weekend and the next, and essentially win all the remaining races. That's my goal."
