Joseph Kosinski is ready to work on a sequel to the film F1.

Joseph Kosinski is ready to work on a sequel to the film F1.

The film F1 The Movie, released in theaters worldwide in the summer of 2025, was commercially successful and warmly received by audiences. The worldwide box office for the picture starring Brad Pitt exceeded $631 million, so it’s no surprise that almost immediately after its release talks began about filming a second installment, although Lewis Hamilton, one of the producers, denied such a possibility.

Variety was the first to report on the possible filming of a sequel, and the Financial Times even wrote that Apple is considering creating a full-fledged franchise.

F1 The Movie director Joseph Kosinski poured fuel on the fire, telling Variety in a recent interview that the parties are discussing the possibility of filming a second installment about the adventures of Sonny Hayes and the APX GP team.

Joseph Kosinski: "We're at the stage where we can fantasize about what the next chapter in the story of Sonny Hayes and the APX GP team might be. You know, judging by the response from audiences around the world, people want to see a continuation. I'd be glad to come back to work to shoot it, because we all had a tremendous amount of fun on set."
