Peres: The goal is to reach the finish line.
Cadillac F1 drivers will start the Australian Grand Prix from the back rows of the grid, but on one hand, this was to be expected, while on the other, the new American team still has reason to celebrate. As stated in their press release today, they "methodically worked, completed the entire program, and confidently conducted qualifying" – the very first in their history.
Sergio Perez (18th): "Today is truly a special day. The team put in a tremendous effort to ensure both cars participated in qualifying, and we conducted the session at a high level, doing everything we could.
Although qualifying was challenging, I am satisfied with both the car's balance and how I completed the lap. The only thing I want to achieve tomorrow is to perform similarly. Now I am ready to move forward, ready to perform well in the race, and our goal, of course, is to reach the finish."
Valtteri Bottas (19th): "It's great that our team conducted its very first qualifying session. I can't say there were no issues during the session, as it was interrupted by red flags, but I am glad that we managed to participate in all sessions this weekend.
Qualifying is behind us, we are ready for tomorrow's race, and that is another achievement. We lack speed, but the work continues, and we will reach the necessary level. You have to start somewhere, and the further direction of development is clearly defined: we understand what we need to pay special attention to and how to carry out car upgrades.
In preparation for the Grand Prix, we must develop the most effective strategy possible, and on Sunday we need to be ready to take advantage of any opportunities and bring both cars to the finish."
Graham Loudon, team principal: "I am very pleased with how the team performed in qualifying. From the very beginning, we said that we would measure the quality of our work by how well we cope and how cohesively we act as a single team, and today everything was good in that regard.
The strategy for qualifying was to conduct three runs, but unfortunately, red flags interfered. Valtteri lost quite a bit of time on the back straight of the circuit, and we still need to figure out why we couldn't fully unlock the car's potential. In any case, the team did a great job in their very first qualifying session, laying a solid foundation ahead of tomorrow's race."
