In the next season of Formula E, the Opel team will make its debut.

This weekend, Madrid will host the Formula E race for the first time, and today, on the eve of this event, it was announced that starting next season, the factory team Opel will compete in the electric series. Its official name is Opel GSE Formula E Team. The electric vehicles produced by the German company since 2022 have been assigned the abbreviation GSE. Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E: "We are pleased to welcome Opel as a new factory team in Formula E. This German brand has a strong market position, characterized by a unique approach to engineering challenges and a vibrant image. Opel has a long history in motorsport, and the presence of this team on the starting grid will bring new dynamics to our series." Florian Hüttl, CEO of Opel Automobile GmbH: "Our entry into Formula E marks a new stage in Opel's history on the path to an electric future. Next season, Formula E will transition to 4th generation cars, and we believe this is the perfect moment for our debut in the electric series. The Opel GSE team will showcase all the core values of our brand: German engineering, bold design, and a commitment to high performance, which fully applies to our series electric models in the GSE lineup." The new team will be officially presented during the GEN4 car launch, scheduled for April at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France. However, the emergence of the factory Opel GSE Team does not mean that there will be one more team in the electric series next season: the Stellantis group has decided that the DS brand will no longer be represented in Formula E. At the same time, the new team will compete under its new license, rather than inheriting it from DS Penske.
