Oliver Berman: I'm fine!

Esteban Ocon earned Haas F1's only point in Suzuka, while his teammate Oliver Berman was involved in an unfortunate crash…

Oliver Berman (retirement): "First of all, everything is fine, I feel good. The crash was unpleasant, but the main thing is that I'm okay. The adrenaline is wearing off, so the drive home will be long, but I'm absolutely fine.

The car suffered some damage, but we have a month until the next race, and I can only apologize to the team, which now has a lot of work ahead.

The cause of the crash was a big speed difference – about 50 km/h. This is a hallmark of the new regulations, and we need to get used to it, but I just didn't have the space to react, considering the much higher speed of my car. There has never been such a large speed difference between cars in Formula 1 before.

We have a month to regroup and come back fighting in Miami in better shape – that's the goal!"

Esteban Ocon (10th): "First of all, I'm glad that Oliver is okay. Unfortunately, in three races out of three, the safety car comes out at the worst possible moment for us. I had a decent start, everything was going well, but then I found myself behind Gabriel and Liam. I managed to overtake Bortoleto, but it was impossible with Lawson.

An interesting battle unfolded ahead between Max and Pierre, and I wanted to be part of it, but I got stuck behind Liam, so we'll never know if I could have passed them.

Overall, a positive weekend, we once again squeezed the maximum out of the car. We could have finished a couple of positions higher, but not all factors are within our control."

Ayo Komatsu, team principal: "First of all, I'm glad that Ollie is okay. The impact was strong. The speed difference between the cars was huge – almost 50 km/h, I'm glad he wasn't hurt.

We had a good start, and although the pace in the race turned out to be not as high as we expected, we managed to gain a few places in the early laps. It's a pity that the safety car came out at an inopportune moment for Esteban, as he lost two positions, one of which he was able to recover later.

The last race allowed us to draw certain conclusions. It's good that under the completely new regulations, we, as the smallest team, are earning points in every race, and that's really a positive aspect. With 18 points, we are in fourth place in the championship – that's fantastic.

The competition for places from 4th to 7th is very tight, with only a four-point gap, so we need to make the most of our time in April to achieve more."
