Binotto: Audi is not looking for a new team principal.
After Jonathan Whitley's departure from the position of team principal at Audi, his responsibilities were taken over by Audi's project leader in Formula 1, Mattia Binotto. In Suzuka, Binotto confirmed that the team is not looking for another specialist to replace Whitley.
Mattia Binotto: "We are not looking for a new team principal for the future, as I will retain this position. But I need someone to help me during race weekends, as I plan to not attend all the races.
I need to focus on work at the base, where the main changes happen. Therefore, I need support during race weekends."
In response to a question about whether any changes had to be made to Audi's work in Suzuka after Whitley's departure, Binotto replied: "No, and if you look at the team's structure from the outside, you will see that it is not about individual employees.
Throughout the weekend, the team remained focused and performed excellently in terms of operational work. We can be satisfied and not worry about the future due to the departure of individual specialists."
