IndyCar: Prema Racing will not participate in the Indy 500.
One of the sensations of last season's IndyCar was Robert Schwartzman's pole position following the qualifying session before the classic Indy 500 race. Undoubtedly, this attracted attention both to him and to the Italian team Prema Racing, for which he competed in his debut season in the overseas series.
However, the race did not go well for him, as Robert did not finish, but it can be said that his team subsequently dropped out of the competition as well, since they could not continue their participation in IndyCar in 2026 due to financial problems. There was some possibility that Prema could participate in the May Indy 500 race, but that will not happen either.
Citing its sources, the American publication Racer reports that the team's financial situation has not improved, but attempts to resolve the difficulties continue. If they succeed, a return could happen later in the season.
Pierce Phillips, the team manager who debuted in IndyCar last year, tried to find new investors to acquire its American assets, so that it could at least start the Indy 500 under some new name after missing the early stages of the season, but the search was unsuccessful.
The Chevrolet engines that were reserved for Prema to compete in Indianapolis have already been handed over to other teams. But theoretically, the possibility of saving the team still exists, although it requires serious efforts and a whole range of legal formalities.
If this happens before June, there will still be ten races ahead, meaning more than half of the season. Of course, this is in the most optimistic scenario.
