Elbon: Our car will partially lose weight in Miami.

Alex Albon explained how Williams is using the April break in the championship, believing that his team will be able to make better use of it than their rivals.

Williams had a very poor start to the 2026 season, with the FW48 chassis being too heavy, and overall the car lacks drivability. So far, the team has only scored a couple of points earned by Carlos Sainz in China, where he was able to take advantage of circumstances when several strong competitors dropped out of the race for various reasons.

On one hand, during the five-week break, teams will not have the opportunity to work on the track, which is a downside, but nothing prevents Williams from preparing for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix in May using the simulator.

"Of course, everyone is in the same position, but we will be able to achieve a slightly more noticeable advantage than the others," Albon is quoted by RacingNews365. "We are putting in maximum effort preparing a set of technical innovations that we will present in Miami, and we are trying to prepare for this Grand Prix better than our competitors.

However, there is no opportunity to work on the track, although we really need it, as we must study the characteristics of our car more deeply. In any case, we have a schedule for these five weeks, and in each of them, we will be working at the base, following a very tight program on the simulator. If everything goes as we plan, we can expect that by Miami our car will partially shed weight."
