While Ford merits recognition for its subtle street truck, the F-150 Lobo falls short in certain aspects. It has a high stance with narrow tires and is exclusively offered as a crew cab. Roush is taking the initiative that Ford should have and transforming a basic two-door F-150 into a street truck.

The new Roush Nitemare package can be applied to the F-150 XL and XLT trims, allowing you to equip a base F-150 with some flair. The suspension kit includes fresh coilovers, twin-tube dampers, progressive-rate springs, and new sway bars with CNC-machined aluminum bushing brackets, lowering the truck by three inches in the front and five inches in the back. Roush asserts that this suspension setup provides the F-150 with 1g cornering capability.

Roush also equips the truck with 22-inch wheels fitted with 305/40R22 General G-Max AS07 all-season tires, alongside slotted brake rotors to enhance braking performance to accommodate the larger wheels. A cat-back exhaust system amplifies the sound of the standard 5.0-liter V8 that comes with regular-cab versions of the XL (and is a $2,340 option for the XLT crew cab), producing 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque from the factory.

The lowered profile and larger wheels and tires are the main highlights, but the Nitemare package further features hood air extractors, a new grille with amber lights and "Roush" branding, as well as an optional graphics package. The blacked-out exterior complemented by a touch of orange around the grille exudes a Lobo-like appearance, yet the interior contrasts with red accents.

All of this comes at an additional cost of $22,999 on top of the new F-150's price, which is $42,125 for a regular-cab XL or $50,850 for a crew-cab XLT (both amounts include a $2,795 destination fee). Hence, the upgrade package is roughly equivalent to half of the truck's base price, making it more expensive than a basic Lobo, even when paired with a base F-150 XL. Fortunately, you can also find a Nitemare at select Ford dealerships, and the modifications are covered by a three-year/36,000-mile warranty.

Alternatively, you might opt to forego the visual enhancements and install the $10,250 Whipple supercharger kit from Ford Performance Parts on a base regular cab XL, which elevates the 5.0-liter V8 to 700 hp and 590 lb-ft for a total of $52,375.
