Chandhok: India will return to the calendar no earlier than 2029.

We have repeatedly talked about the Indian authorities' desire to bring the national stage back to the Formula 1 calendar. Recently, India's Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur, stated that the race will take place next year, but the Formula 1 management was quick to refute his words. Former Formula 1 driver Karun Chandhok, whose father Vicky Chandhok is one of the advisors to the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, wrote on social media that the Indian Grand Prix, if it returns, will not be before 2029. "It's nice to see such ambitions, but 2027 is too early, considering the amount of work that needs to be done for this to happen," wrote Karun Chandhok. "I really want to see the return of the Indian Grand Prix, but the owners of the racetrack need to do work on the track, think through the financial model, and also resolve regulatory and taxation issues. At best, the stage will return in 2029 or 2030."
