Aston Martin and Geely are in a legal dispute over the logo.
The parent company of the Formula 1 team Aston Martin Lagonda has filed an appeal in the High Court of London regarding a trademark case. The dispute involves Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd, which began back in 2022 when Geely attempted to register a new logo. Aston Martin Lagonda opposed the registration, claiming that the proposed design infringes on the copyright of the famous Aston Martin "wings." Hearings in the case took place in September 2025. Representatives of Geely insisted that the use of wings in automotive emblems is a common practice, citing brands such as Bentley and Mini as examples. In March 2026, the court dismissed Aston Martin Lagonda's claims and ordered the company to pay legal costs of £2,200. However, the British company retained the right to appeal, which it has exercised. The case has now officially been transferred to the High Court. Aston Martin Lagonda refrained from detailed comments, providing only a brief statement: "Aston Martin Lagonda does not comment on ongoing legal proceedings. Protecting our brand and intellectual property is a priority for the company, and we will continue to take necessary measures to protect our trademarks in relevant markets."
