Formula 1 will appear in a new Hollywood movie.
The success of the feature film F1: The Movie starring Brad Pitt has drawn Hollywood's attention to motorsport, and the creators of another film project have decided to link the plot of the movie to Formula 1. Next year, a currently untitled film being developed by Warner Bros. will be released worldwide. The film will serve as a prequel to the film franchise started by Steven Soderbergh in 2001 with "Ocean's Eleven," in which George Clooney played the charming thief Danny Ocean. The new film is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2027, and will tell the story of Danny's parents, who pulled off a heist during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix. "Before Danny Ocean set foot in Las Vegas, two geniuses taught him everything he knows – his parents," actress Margot Robbie said during the project's presentation at the ongoing CinemaCon exhibition in Las Vegas. "You will see them in their prime, and in our new film, they will commit an epic heist during the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix." It is still unknown whether the race will merely serve as a backdrop for the film's events or will directly influence the plot. Bruce McLaren won the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix driving a Cooper-Climax, finishing ahead of Ferrari driver Phil Hill by 1.3 seconds.
