The Porsche 911 Speedster has long excited car enthusiasts with the promise of blending the thrilling sound of the brand’s high-performance, naturally aspirated flat-six engine with a sporty chassis and an open-top design. Although it’s a favorite among fans, the Speedster’s limited availability and restricted production have largely made it accessible only to a fortunate few. However, for 2027, Porsche is making some changes. While there’s no new Speedster available just yet—so we’ll have to wait a little longer for that—let's take a look at the new 911 GT3 S/C.
The S/C stands for “Sport Cabriolet.” This term elegantly describes what this vehicle delivers. It’s a true 911 GT3—a lightweight two-seater—though it doesn’t possess the more aggressive characteristics of the RS variant due to its absence of a fixed roof. The outcome is quite remarkable.

“The new 911 GT3 S/C fulfills our customers’ demand for sports cars that offer an exceptionally enjoyable driving experience,” stated Frank Moser, Vice President of the 911 and 718 model lines, in Porsche’s official release. “The exhilarating power of the 911 GT3 is even more pronounced when driving without a roof, especially on twisting country roads. Most importantly, we’ve succeeded in maintaining a notably low weight of 3,322 lbs for the 911 GT3 S/C, despite the presence of a fully automatic top.”
However, the most remarkable aspect of the GT3 S/C isn’t its physical features. That distinction belongs to Porsche’s production strategy.

“Unlike the 911 Speedster,” Porsche’s release indicated, “the 911 GT3 S/C is not a limited production model.”
Porsche envisions the S/C as a blend of the GT3 and S/T. The S/C incorporates various design elements from the 911 S/T, such as significant use of carbon fiber in the hood, fenders, doors, and brakes. Indeed, PCCBs come standard with this model. Additionally, the interior features several carbon fiber elements, and folding carbon bucket seats are offered as an option. If you can, go for them. It's your money, after all. The same applies for the striking tartan interior.

Yet, the lightweight design of the body and interior would be ineffective if the convertible didn’t enhance the experience of the 911’s flat-six engine. This time, Porsche presents a thrilling centerpiece: a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine generating 502 horsepower and capable of revving to 9,000 RPM. If that doesn’t excite you, nothing will.
Oh, did I mention it comes with a six-speed manual transmission? No? Well, it does.
Despite the 911 GT3 S/C being intended for mass production, it’s not exactly affordable. (Surprise, I know.) When it launches later this year, it will carry a starting price of $275,350 (including destination fees). Ouch.
