Statement from the FIA President
Today, the FIA will meet with team leaders for further discussions on potential changes before formulating a final proposal that will be submitted for approval to the FIA World Motor Sport Council. Prior to this, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem made an official statement.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem: "I am pleased to announce that constructive negotiations have taken place between the FIA and Formula 1 drivers ahead of the meeting with team leaders, where possible changes to the 2026 regulations will be discussed.
The drivers have made invaluable contributions to the discussion of adjustments that they believe should be made, particularly in the area of energy management, to ensure safe, fair, and competitive racing.
In recent weeks, the FIA has held a series of meetings with technical representatives of teams, power unit manufacturers, and FOM to discuss the proposed changes. Safety and the interests of the sport have been the main focus of these discussions. After the upcoming meeting, final proposals will be put to an electronic vote by the FIA World Council."
