It is commonly said that "no one can take away the championship title," and this really matters – there have been 116 race winners in Formula 1 history, but only 35 champions.
Lando Norris admitted that he is not ready to trade last year's title for a car capable of winning this year, but the team is doing everything to get back to the top...
Lando Norris: "Of course, we are not in the shape I expected, but if you ask me whether I would prefer wins this year over last year's title, you know what my answer would be.
It is impossible to have the best car every year. But we are working, striving towards our goal, and the knowledge that we are capable of achieving it is incredibly motivating.
We have a great opportunity to show what we can do as a team, competing against Ferrari and Mercedes, who are currently showing very good results. Improving some metrics takes time, but that doesn't mean we are behind. At the moment, we are the third strongest team, and while first place is always better than third, we have a good foundation for further progress. Time will tell. We have ambitious plans, and we are doing everything to get back to the top."
