Katherine Legge is poised to make her fifth appearance at the Indy 500 this May, having been confirmed as the 33rd and likely final entry for this year’s race. Unlike in previous years, Legge will not be driving a Honda; she will be behind the wheel of the No. 11 car operated by AJ Foyt Racing and Indy NXT team HMD Motorsports.
Legge’s main sponsor is a well-known brand, e.l.f. Cosmetics, which has supported her in various racing ventures, including the Indy 500. According to Racer.com, the seasoned driver has also received "significant backing" from General Motors. On the technical front, Legge and her team will benefit from technical support provided by Team Penske.
“We’ve worked incredibly hard to return to this year’s Indianapolis 500, and I don’t take a single moment of it for granted,” Legge remarked during the announcement. “I’m extremely grateful to e.l.f. Cosmetics for recognizing that women deserve to have a presence in every field – including this one. Together, we’re showing that when you invest in a woman’s dream, there are no limits to what she can accomplish."

“It truly feels like Christmas being back at the 500. Every time I come back, I gain a deeper appreciation for what it takes – not just to compete, but to earn the chance to be here in the first place. I’m reminded that I’m just a small part of this vastly storied event,” she continued.
Currently, Legge is the only female driver confirmed for the 110th edition of the 500, and with the race less than a month away, it is highly unlikely that this will change. In fact, it seems improbable that any additional entries will be made, which means no one will be bumped during this year’s qualifying.
It’s wonderful to see Legge back in IndyCar, especially at the 500. Here’s hoping she has better luck this year compared to her last outing in 2024, when a mechanical failure cut her race short after just 22 laps.
