Oscar Piastri: My relationship with Lando hasn't changed.

      Oscar Piastri assures that his relationship with Lando Norris, his teammate at McLaren, has not changed even now that the stakes are high and both are vying for victories.

      "Honestly, I don't think that relationship has changed significantly, although no one believes it, and it really is hard to believe," said the Australian driver while participating in the High Performance podcast. "I think it has a lot to do with who we are as people. I believe we both separate our personal relationship from what happens on the track.

      We are often asked how our relationship is, and I believe that at the end of last year it was better than, say, in the first six months of our collaboration when we were just getting to know each other. Simply because now we know each other better and spend so much time together every year.

      We both understood the position we were in when we were trying to outpace each other, knowing that only one of us could win. Nevertheless, the relationship never soured. I think that’s really important because last year it could have easily gone south...

      But I believe the most important thing is to ensure the team moves forward. Of course, this season hasn't started the way we would have liked, but last year could have turned out ten times worse, and we both know that.

      Sure, there were a few tense moments on the track, but you see, when teammates are fighting for the title, their relationship usually deteriorates due to various games or when they try to hide something from each other. We've seen examples of that too. I think we just aren't those kinds of people...

      And even if we did have issues, it was never due to anyone's deliberate actions. Even if it seemed to us that we crossed a certain line, it never led to arguments. I think in such cases, each of us felt that it was his fault, and the team also believed that the responsibility lay with the drivers. Overall, I think we have a pretty good system in place that allows us to maintain a friendly relationship."
