Haas is ready to overcome the challenges of the sprint weekend.
The fourth stage of the 2026 championship is the Miami Grand Prix, and the American team Haas F1 has tried to prepare as well as possible for their first home race of the season, which is also important because the weekend schedule includes a Saturday sprint, providing an additional opportunity to earn points.
Ayo Komatsu, team principal: "Although we all missed the thrill that comes with competing, we made good use of our time after the Japanese Grand Prix, working on various aspects of the team's operations.
Several meetings between our drivers and fans and business partners were enjoyable, as they are usually difficult to organize early in the season. It’s very nice to see that the team has great support, which is especially important now as we prepare for our first home race in the USA.
In terms of the technical side, after the first three stages, we already have a better understanding of the VF-26's characteristics. Of course, this was aided by having more time to analyze the collected data, and we continued to work on improving the reliability and efficiency of the car.
The team heads to Miami with the mindset of earning as many points as possible, which we have managed to do at each of the previous Grands Prix, but we believe that the car's potential has not been fully realized. Ahead is a weekend with a sprint, which always means time pressure and guarantees special challenges, but everyone is in the same position.
The positive aspect is that we are returning to the racetrack, and we have always enjoyed spending time in Miami, so we are already looking forward to it."
Oliver Berman: "I am very happy that racing is resuming after a long break, especially in Miami, which is a fun track. We have a weekend with a sprint ahead, which is a serious test under the new regulations. In each session, we discover something new, and I am ready to tackle that in Miami and deal with all the challenges.
The start of the season has been successful, and I hope we can continue in the same vein, as everyone has recharged their energy and is ready to attack again."
Esteban Ocon: "The Miami stage will likely be the first race held in high temperatures and humidity, and we haven't tested the new cars in such conditions yet. Since the weekend schedule includes a sprint, we will need to learn very quickly.
We have done a lot of preparatory work in the simulator, trying to find the right approach to using battery energy, but there are several aspects we will need to figure out during practice. The goal is to conduct it as efficiently as possible.
The car has performed well in the early stages of the season, so we hope to have a successful weekend and earn points for the team's tally."
