Khajar: I hold myself to the highest standards.

Isaac Hadjar made quite a favorable impression last year when he debuted in Formula 1 with Racing Bulls, and it was no coincidence that he became Max Verstappen's new teammate at Red Bull Racing.

"I must say, I really enjoy the work. I knew that if I handled my tasks well, I could earn this spot," shared the 21-year-old French driver in an interview with the championship's official website. "To be honest, I set this goal for myself right from the start of the year... I wanted to make the best of my debut season to move to Red Bull – and that's how it turned out.

There is always pressure, and I always had to prove something. But when you get used to it from the age of seven or ten, you learn to cope with the pressure. I set the highest standards for myself, and my own standards are higher than what others tell me. The most important thing is that I have no reason to be dissatisfied with myself.

I have some not-so-great memories of the time when I was karting in my youth because I would come home on Sunday after a tough weekend, and on Monday I had to take some exam at school. And I had to perform well in everything I did, but I think the need to be disciplined in my studies helped me and continues to help me a lot.

Formula 1 is a complex sport; you have to communicate with engineers all day, and the habit of discipline came in very handy."

One of Isaac's important character traits is self-confidence and belief in his abilities, which is evident now that he has become a driver for Red Bull Racing: "Of course, I was nervous because I saw the difference in results between Max and his teammates, and that seemed strange to me.

But I am a realist and reasoned that Formula 1 has moved to a new technical regulation, we have the same cars, and if I consider myself a good driver, then I am a good driver. Period. It seems to me that after the first three races of the season, everything is going about as I anticipated.

The RB22 car in its current state is very difficult to drive, but at the same time, I am not too far behind Max and I am satisfied with how I am handling things, with how I performed in these three races. Behind the wheel of this particular car, I gave it my all, so everything is going pretty well.

All of this inspires me because for the first time in my career, I am competing for such a big team that is starting a major project. Last year, when I debuted in the championship, it was the last year of the previous regulations, and I had no opportunity to influence the direction of development or give advice on how to make the car better. But this year we are at the very beginning of the journey, we have very serious challenges ahead, and it is very interesting to see how the car will be upgraded, how it will gain speed."
