Gasly: The incident was frightening, but I'm okay.

Franco Colapinto earned points for Alpine in Miami, while Pierre Gasly retired after an unfortunate crash…

Franco Colapinto (8th): “I’m happy to finish eighth and earn points. Overall, it was an interesting week – from the show in Buenos Aires to today’s meeting with my idol Lionel Messi, and now points in the race – I’m very satisfied.

Today we did everything we could. My race was lonely – the strongest teams were far ahead, but we worked well with strategy and pit stops, we did everything right. I didn’t start very well, losing a few positions, but I quickly made them back.

There was a small collision with Lewis Hamilton, but fortunately, there were no serious damages, and we both managed to continue the race. The pace was high, I handled it well and ultimately finished eighth. Thanks to the team for their hard work, we will try to maintain this form in Montreal.”

Pierre Gasly (retirement): “The incident after the contact with Lawson was scary, but I’m fine. Flipping in the air in a Formula 1 car is not the best adventure, but I’m glad it ended well.

I had a good start, gained a few places, but had to brake to avoid a collision with Verstappen when his car spun. Because of that, I lost a few places and ended up in the midfield.

After yesterday’s sprint, I was confident in our race pace, hoping to earn points, but my race ended due to the incident with Liam, which I believe could have been avoided. He came to apologize, but I’m disappointed for the team – the car was fast, we should have earned a lot of points.

We have a lot to review before Canada to achieve more in the next stage. We are fifth in speed among the teams, we need to solidify that status and reduce the gap to the leaders.”
