F1 driver Fernando Alonso (currently 21st in the standings) has just received a stunning one-off Pagani Zonda Diamante Verde. The ultra-premium vehicle broker Mechatronik presented him the car in Monaco, complete with a Recaro child seat that matches his racing helmet's livery. Having recently become a father, I believe the seat is more of a symbolic gesture than something that will be used right away. Nonetheless, I found it to be quite cool and charming.
The child seat itself is actually much less extravagant than the car it's shown with. It resembles a Recaro Axion 1, which is available in Europe for less than $400. This seat is also designed for older children, not infants, so I assume its primary purpose was to facilitate these photos. Alonso's baby was born just a few weeks ago and will likely be years away from riding in a Pagani. Although I'm sure the child can look forward to an incredible array of driving experiences as the child of an F1 champion.
Mechatronik enlisted photographer Alex Penfold to capture these images of the car being handed over to the Spanish racer. Swipe through to see the seat coordinated with Alonso’s 2026 season helmet:
The "Diamante Verde" was produced in 2017 using what Pagani refers to as a Carbo-Titan chassis. This is a “specialized composite material that weaves carbon fiber with titanium strands, creating an extraordinarily strong, rigid, and lightweight monocoque chassis.” The engine is a Mercedes-AMG 7.3-liter V12, delivering 760 horsepower at over 8,000 rpm. It features particularly wide front arches and a hood design originally created for the Zonda 760LM (another exclusive eight-figure creation from Pagani’s impressive factory). With the intake snorkel positioned just above the occupants' heads and the ceramic-coated exhaust designed like a musical instrument, acceleration in this vehicle is undoubtedly a sublime experience.
And if you’re looking to prolong your procrastination, take a look at some of the other extraordinary vehicles Mechatronik has sold. The German company's inventory makes Bring-a-Trailer seem like a used car dealership on Route 17.
