Lance Stroll is not planning to leave Formula 1.
Lance Stroll is among the drivers who are particularly vocal in criticizing the new generation of power units. The Canadian does not hide his disappointment with the new product, and it's not just because Honda has produced a non-competitive power unit.
However, when directly asked if he would retire from Formula 1 this year, the Aston Martin driver answered negatively.
Lance Stroll: "No, I will not leave, as I believe in our project, which is still far from realizing its full potential.
Adrian Newey has joined the team, we have a new base, a new wind tunnel, and I believe the team has great potential. I want to be part of the team when we reach the level that I believe we are capable of.
If in two or three years I am sitting on the couch watching two green cars lead the race while I am not involved in any of it, I will feel uncomfortable. So I want to be part of this project.
I hope that as the car develops, it will get better and provide drivers with more enjoyment from driving. And I am not just talking about myself. Some guys cannot say everything they think about the engines because they have contracts. I hope that over the years the cars will improve, and we will return to what Formula 1 cars should be like."
