Good morning, and happy Friday! It’s a lovely morning to watch a Toyota Sienna help a stranded Tesla Cybertruck out of some sandy beach, isn’t it? No need to respond; I’m certain you’ve already clicked “Play.”

The video was uploaded to YouTube by someone named “Bob,” who references a Reddit post as the source, but it seems like the Bluesky update embedded below contains the original footage. Unfortunately, neither provides much background information. The Tesla has California license plates, the Sienna is bright white, and we find ourselves at the beach. If I were inclined to make a wager (which I’m not, so don’t take this to Polymarket), I’d bet that one (or both) of these vehicles are rentals.

It’s a (thankfully) short video that appears to be authentic; if it’s not, it’s quite convincing. The clip begins with the Sienna just tightening the tow strap. At some point before the filming started, someone (likely the Cybertruck operators) had already attempted to increase the beached pickup's traction by using what looks like some discarded fence posts. Clearly, that effort was unsuccessful.

Let’s clear this up right away: this entire recovery “operation” is a chaotic, dangerous situation. Having so many people nearby a driver managing a 6,600-pound electric vehicle is just inviting injury (or worse). The crowd was also lucky that the Cybertruck's tires didn’t engage that fence post; the torque could have easily turned it into a 50-pound projectile.

In just 36 seconds, we witness not only the recovery unfold but also grasp why it was necessary in the first place. Credit where it’s due: the Sienna driver executes her role perfectly, smoothly getting the Cybertruck out in moments. The Tesla driver’s efforts were probably doing more harm than good during the extraction. Once the Sienna had it moving, trying to kick sand from beneath the wheels just complicated things—not that it seemed to bother the woman driving the minivan.

Next time, let her take the wheel of the Tesla.
