Glock states that Germany needs to 'bow' to Verstappen.

Former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock states that Max Verstappen has revitalized interest in German motorsport following the Dutchman's remarkable participation in the sold-out 24 Hours of Nurburgring. Germany has not hosted a Formula 1 grand prix since 2020 and currently has just one driver on the grid: Nico Hulkenberg. Glock remarks that the decline has been significant.

"Nobody talked about this until Max Verstappen arrived," he commented. "Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Nico Rosberg, and others grew up benefiting from the influence of German motorsport, but now we seem to have fallen out of favor."

"It’s quite concerning and unfortunately a result of the political situation in Germany."

"We no longer have a German GP."

The participation of the four-time world champion in the Nurburgring 24 Hours generated unprecedented interest, with the event completely selling out for the first time in its history. "Max is the reason everything is sold out here," Glock noted.

"This marks the first occasion in the history of the 24-hour race that it has sold out completely. It’s wonderful. To me, this is truly a symbol for motorsport."

Glock also highlighted the contrast between Verstappen's passion for racing and the actions of most current Formula 1 drivers. "A perfect example was when all the other Formula 1 drivers were attending the premiere of the F1 film in New York, while Max was out driving a GT3 car in Spa," he pointed out.

"This illustrates how he experiences motorsport and how seriously he approaches it. I’m unsure how he manages with 24 Formula 1 grand prix events."

Verstappen’s pace immediately impressed seasoned GT drivers. "He puts in a tremendous amount of effort and focuses on the details to enhance the car," Glock remarked. "Then he gets in and is absurdly quick. He has an incredible knack for navigating traffic. It's truly impressive."

Speaking to RTL, Glock expressed that Germany essentially owes Verstappen gratitude for rekindling worldwide interest in the Nurburgring and Nordschleife. "We all need to show our respect for him here in Germany," he stated. "Just look at how frequently the Nordschleife and Nurburgring have been mentioned globally in recent months and the attention this event is receiving."

"We haven't seen this level of interest in Germany for some time."

"Following Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, Max is the only one who has truly succeeded in bringing German motorsport back into the spotlight," he concluded. Ironically, Glock's own weekend at the Nurburgring ended poorly when he lost his Nordschleife license due to speeding under yellow-flag conditions.
