Alpine will not rush with the lineup for 2027.

Alpine team principal Flavio Briatore stated that the team will not rush into selecting drivers for the 2027 season. According to Briatore, he first wants to find out if Max Verstappen will move to Mercedes, and if so, what changes this will bring to the driver market.

Flavio Briatore: "We don't know how events will unfold at Mercedes. We don't know if they will sign a contract with Max Verstappen or someone else, so first we will look at the options available, and then we will make decisions.

Last year, everyone criticized me for Franco Colapinto. I constantly heard, 'Why did you take Colapinto? It's a mistake.' But I believe that Franco has talent. We spend a lot of time together, and from our conversations, it's clear how much he has matured. Last year he was still a child.

He was under immense pressure because at every stage he didn't know if he would stay with the team, if he would be replaced, and so on. Now he has become much calmer."

Briatore added that if Franco Colapinto continues to progress, he has a chance to keep his place in the team beyond 2026.

"Honestly, I believe that Franco is capable of becoming one of the leading drivers," continues Flavio Briatore. "In Canada, he had a great weekend. On Friday, he missed the first practice due to a battery issue, but everything else went well."
