Vowles is confident that Sainz and Albon want to stay at Williams.

Carlos Sainz's commitments to Williams expire in 2026, and the Spanish driver will have to decide whether to start negotiations for a contract extension with this team or move to another one. Several other drivers are in a similar situation, such as Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, but since the likelihood of Max Verstappen changing teams or leaving Formula 1 altogether no longer seems very high, it gives the impression that significant personnel changes are not to be expected.

James Vowles, the head of Williams, also commented on the rumors surrounding his drivers, believing that both will remain with the team. "As for the season of rumors that are already appearing, talk to Alex, talk to Carlos – they want to stay to continue this journey together with the team," Vowles's words were quoted by Marca. "That's the most I can say. And my job is to make them want to stay."

The start of the season for Williams has not been easy, as the car turned out to be 28 kg heavier than necessary, but the team has made every effort to achieve improvements, and thanks to a package of updates presented in Miami, it is now 4 kg lighter and gradually gaining pace. However, the team remains in 8th place in the Constructors' Championship, with only seven points to its name, all of which have been earned by Sainz.

"After the difficulties we faced in the winter, the team, realizing that we are lagging behind in many areas, quickly took a number of measures aimed at addressing these issues and signed contracts with several key specialists," Carlos stated at a recent stage in Canada.

James Vowles also remains optimistic, believing that the difficulties are only temporary: "I want to prove that we are capable of making a comeback and increasing the speed of the car at a very fast pace. This is what we are currently working on. It is important that the company's board of directors supports us, and this demonstrates that all the systemic transformations we are implementing and the fundamental principles we have established remain in force.

The same applies to our drivers: they are not in the team just to fight for a place in the qualifying finals. They want to demonstrate our ability to solve emerging problems. I believe we are on the right track, although there is still a long way to go."
