Leclerc: Amendments must be fair for everyone

Charles Leclerc believes that there is a very complex issue regarding the possible adjustment of the regulations for power units aimed at 2027, related to the fact that such amendments must be equally fair to all teams. At the level of the FIA and Formula 1, preliminary agreements have already been reached with the championship teams on making further changes to the regulations, the essence of which is to bring the power ratio generated by the internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid power unit systems closer to 60/40 instead of the original 50/50. In particular, Max Verstappen stated that this is the minimum condition under which he would be willing to stay in Formula 1. But the problem is that after the Canadian stage of the championship, the situation seems to have changed. There have been no official statements on this matter, but insiders assure that Ferrari, Audi, and Cadillac are against the proposed changes. According to Leclerc, changes are necessary, and negotiations on this topic should take place, but ensuring that the interests of all parties are equally respected will not be easy. "First of all, I believe that the right steps are being taken in this direction," the Ferrari driver is quoted by RacingNews365. "But will it be enough? In my opinion, there are other measures we can take. What exactly those are is another question. I believe we must act cautiously. Of course, the transition to the new regulations has led to significant changes, and teams have worked for many years to prepare for this and to set a course for further modernization of technology planned for several years. If something is to be changed by next year, it is necessary to act in a way that does not disrupt the balance of everything that has been done over the previous years. From my point of view, this is the most challenging moment. Certainly, we must try to improve something, but at the same time, it is necessary to exercise caution. After all, the technology of different teams varies greatly in design features, and everyone applied their own approaches when preparing for the transition to this regulation. I think finding something that will satisfy everyone and be fair to all teams is much more difficult than we initially thought. However, as far as I know, the championship teams are still trying to develop this common approach."
