Sergio Perez: I didn't gain anything on the restart.
In Monaco, the Cadillac team was close to earning their first points in Formula 1; however, Sergio Perez, who finished tenth, was penalized and dropped to fifteenth place in the final standings. His teammate Valtteri Bottas retired from the race due to brake overheating.
Sergio Perez (15th): "An incredible success for the team. The race was very challenging due to vibrations – at one point we even considered retiring, but we didn't give up and kept attacking, and the events in the race gave us a chance to fight.
I had a bad restart, but during the lap, I overtook many cars and finished tenth. It's a shame that a penalty followed, as I didn't gain any advantage on the restart, but it is what it is. Nevertheless, this does not diminish today's result."
Valtteri Bottas (retirement): "Even before the race, we knew that brake temperature could become an issue. Even though I carefully monitored the temperature from the first lap, I had to retire.
It was a challenging weekend on a unique track, but we also saw positive moments. This was another race from which we will draw conclusions to continue improving and to avoid similar problems in the future."
