Brembo 'taken aback' by Leclerc's public criticism of the brakes.

Charles Leclerc has finally lost his patience with the ongoing brake issues that have affected his Ferrari in recent races. Following his crash in what looked like a potential podium finish in Monaco, the newly re-signed Ferrari driver vented his frustration over the team radio, stating, "I’m not going to take the fuc*ing blame!"

The Monegasque then clarified to the media that the problem was not due to driver error or the asphalt conditions at the final corner. "I believe I have always been very honest, and regardless of my mistakes, I can't stand looking at myself in the mirror if I make excuses," he explained. "That’s why I am straightforwardly honest in front of cameras, but I won’t take responsibility for this today." He added, "I don't know how much depth I can go into, but it feels like I have no brakes."

Leclerc expressed his overwhelming frustration after his home race ended in disappointment. “Extremely frustrated. Extremely angry. Extremely sad, because this is my home,” he shared. “But today, I’m not angry at myself.”

He pointed out that a solution exists, noting that Lewis Hamilton had started exploring it three or four races ago. “For me, it was just undriveable today,” he admitted. The solution appears to involve the brake configuration already used by Hamilton. After facing similar problems throughout 2025, Hamilton seemingly and quietly switched from Ferrari’s long-time Brembo disc material supplier to Carbon Industrie after Suzuka. Since then, he has performed as Ferrari’s top driver.

Initially, Leclerc was hesitant to make the change, but now he’s ready. “The only thing I can be somewhat optimistic about is that we have the solution within the team,” he noted. “Lewis has taken a different route with his brakes. I’ll do the same starting from the next race with my car.”

Ferrari’s deputy team principal, Jerome d’Ambrosio, confirmed the team’s commitment to helping Leclerc resolve the issue. “For the upcoming races, our aim is to be 100 percent supportive of Charles,” he stated. “Tomorrow we’ll head back home, analyze what occurred, determine the best course of action, and move forward in the direction we see as most fitting.”

Team principal Frederic Vasseur, who returned from the hospital after a mysterious medical issue on Saturday, also promised a thorough investigation. “We will meticulously analyze the situation, understand exactly what happened, and ensure we address it for Barcelona,” he mentioned.

The controversy elicited an unusual public response from Brembo itself. “The Brembo Group is very surprised by the comments made by Charles Leclerc following the Monaco GP,” the Italian company remarked. “The company currently does not know the causes of the issues encountered by Charles Leclerc and therefore considers it premature to draw definitive technical conclusions without first analyzing the available data.” Brembo also highlighted that several F1 teams utilize its braking technology. “Over the years, the teams in the World Championship have consistently opted for Brembo solutions, recognizing their reliability, innovation, and top-tier performance,” the statement concluded.
