Norris believes that he still has a chance for the title.
After six races of the season, reigning world champion Lando Norris is 98 points behind the leader of the individual standings, Kimi Antonelli. Nevertheless, in Barcelona, the McLaren driver stated that he still has a chance to defend his title.
Lando Norris: "I still believe that we are capable of winning the title. We should have won in Miami, and there have already been races this season where we could have won based on pure speed, and we deserved it.
So the hope hasn't gone anywhere. The main problem is retirements and lack of reliability, which have cost us dearly. Monaco was tough, as we were lacking pace there anyway, but I don't think the title fight is over yet.
I will believe in our chances for as long as possible. I still believe that the team is capable of turning things around and continuing to progress.
At the same time, we are up against a team and Kimi Antonelli, who are currently showing an incredible level. When your opponent performs that strongly, it can be hard to maintain confidence. But the optimism was boosted by the races in Miami and Canada. We looked quite competitive there. We managed to secure one podium, but there could have been a second.
So the desire to fight and the belief in success have not gone anywhere. We must continue to believe that the title is still possible."
