Science: In Barcelona, we are going to be even more upset.

The Monaco race ended for Carlos Sainz with a disappointing retirement: the Spanish Williams driver was on his way to a points finish, but retired eight laps before the end. Initially, his car was hit by Nico Hülkenberg in the hairpin, resulting in a significant contact with the barrier, and before Portier, he was hit by Alpine's Franco Colapinto, which led to a spin. However, this was Carlos's first retirement of the season, and he explained why he wasn't too upset about it at the time...

Carlos Sainz: "We were having a very confident weekend, unfortunately, I couldn't score points after that crash with eight laps to go. But we were only aiming for 9th or 10th place, and when I realized that the next day as I was getting ready for bed, I understood that I wasn't too bothered by such results.

After all, I'm here to fight for podiums, for wins, for places in the top five – that's the goal. And if I lose 9th place, then on the day of such a racing incident, I can be upset, but I calm down very quickly. But I think we will be more upset in Barcelona.

As we know, the weaknesses of the Williams car are revealed on this track, and I foresee that our FW48 will not perform well here. However, we will have a great opportunity to figure out what this is related to, as here we will understand where our weak points are. But despite this, I will try to score points.

The team missed the initial testing that took place in Barcelona in January, but for me, this is not a problem; I know the track well enough, while our engineers will have to figure out for the first time how energy is consumed during a lap here, how to conduct starts, and how to act during long stints. Of course, one could say that we will be half a step behind everyone, as a lot has changed since January, including regarding the Mercedes power units.

In general, we'll see. The situation is not ideal, but it's not the end of the world yet."
