Seven substitutions in the first training session in Barcelona
Kimi Antonelli, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, Isaac Hadjar, Alex Albon, Nico Hülkenberg, and Sergio Perez will miss the first free practice session of the Barcelona-Catalonia Grand Prix. For one hour, they will give up their cars to young drivers. According to the regulations, each team is required to provide a car to a driver with less than two starts in a Grand Prix four times during the season. Each of the main drivers must give up their seat twice. In the upcoming event, seven out of eleven teams have decided to start the substitutions. In Mercedes, championship leader Kimi Antonelli will give his car to Frederic Vesti. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will be replaced by Dino Beganovic at Ferrari. In McLaren, reigning world champion Lando Norris will be replaced by Leonardo Fornaroli for the practice session. The young driver chose number 67 to participate in the session. Ayumu Iwasa will be replaced by Isaac Hadjar at Red Bull Racing. In Williams, Luke Browning will take over Alex Albon's car. Nico Hülkenberg will give up his seat in the Audi cockpit to Paul Aron, while Colton Herta will debut in Cadillac, replacing Sergio Perez. There will be no substitutions in Alpine, Racing Bulls, Haas, and Aston Martin.
