"I’m not concerned, and there are two reasons for that."

Williams team principal James Vowles is becoming more optimistic that Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon will remain dedicated to the long-term goals of the Grove-based team. Sainz's second season with Williams has been more challenging than anticipated, but Vowles asserts that the Spanish driver is fully committed, despite persistent rumors about potential moves elsewhere.

"No, I’m not concerned, and there are two reasons for that," he stated to Spanish journalists in Barcelona. "I believe that the successful teams—of which there are currently only one or two—have a strong foundation and are not looking to make changes anytime soon.

"Moreover, both Alex and Carlos have already invested considerable time in shaping this team to meet their vision. This is their team, and you won't find that kind of commitment anywhere else on the grid."

"They are eager to continue with it, and that’s something special."

Vowles noted that open communication with both drivers has fostered trust during a challenging time. "We've had honest discussions from October of last year, when I started noticing issues, through January and March," he disclosed.

In Barcelona, Albon is demonstrating his dedication to Williams by donning a special helmet inspired by Nigel Mansell, honoring his position as the longest-serving Williams driver.

In addition, Vowles mentioned that Williams is already placing considerable emphasis on 2027, even as they continue to develop the current FW48. "The 2027 car is currently the aerodynamic priority," he explained.

"That’s where most of my engineering team is concentrating. The engineering efforts to reduce the weight of this car are already complete. Now, the focus is on the future."

He added, "The challenging weight situation will actually enhance our performance through the end of the year, making it an advantageous area to concentrate on. I refer to that as ‘free laptime.’"
