Lewis Hamilton: We have a good chance to compete in the race.

Lewis Hamilton qualified second in Barcelona and for the first time driving a Ferrari starts from the front row in the Sunday race. His teammate Charles Leclerc crashed the car in the final at the fourth corner, failing to complete his first attempt.

Lewis Hamilton (2nd): "First of all, I want to highlight the amazing atmosphere in the stands. Barcelona always has a great crowd, and the weather this weekend is just fantastic. Thank you to all the fans for their support.

To be honest, this weekend has been quite challenging for me. Usually, missing the first practice isn't a serious problem, but this time the consequences were quite noticeable. In the second practice, I was over a second behind the leaders and couldn't feel comfortable behind the wheel.

These tires actually only work for one fast lap, so in each session, you only have two full attempts. Even if you try to attack again after a cooling lap, the car's balance is completely different, making it difficult to use that lap as a reference.

The situation didn't change in the third practice. I was still four to five tenths behind and was trying to figure out how to make up that time. After practice, I even went back to my motorhome.

In the first part of qualifying, I set the best time and realized that the car had good balance, and I felt confident behind the wheel. The second part was more difficult due to traffic and other factors, and then in the final, George drove an excellent lap, so he can only be congratulated.

Nevertheless, I start from the front row, so we have a good chance to fight for a high result tomorrow.

Throughout the weekend, we were about four tenths behind the leaders. Even after installing the updates on the car, we thought we were at about that level. So the fact that we were separated by less than a tenth in qualifying shows the work the team members in Maranello did to prepare the updates for Barcelona.

I want to say a big thank you to everyone at the base. We need to keep working, developing the car, and looking for ways to become even faster. I hope tomorrow we can add a little more and finally challenge our rivals."

Charles Leclerc (10th): "I'm fine, thank you. I'm just very ashamed to be standing here after such a crash.

What happened? I released the brake pedal too early and tried to maintain speed. I think I was close to being faster than everyone in almost every corner except the fourth. I knew that was our weak point, understood that I had to do everything perfectly on this lap, and tried to do that.

Of course, I regret what happened and can repeat that I am very ashamed.

In the last two races, in Canada and Monaco, I found myself in a very difficult situation, and it was not easy to deal with it. In Monaco, everything ended as it did, and it was very hard to accept, especially knowing that I had little influence on it.

This weekend was nothing like that. The car handled excellently, the feelings behind the wheel were fantastic, but I didn't fulfill my task. Moreover, I crashed the car, so there can be no excuses. I'm just ashamed.

Of course, after the races, our job is to go out to the press and answer questions in front of the cameras, but when such things happen, especially after several previous weekends when we already had difficulty finding speed, I can only feel shame.

The only positive thing is that I got back the good feelings from the car. Before tomorrow's race, I am optimistic and believe that we can show a good result, but I have to achieve it on the track and conduct the race perfectly. That will be the minimum I can do to somewhat atone for today's mistake. It's a pity that it happened this way."
