Russell: I feel like I've become myself again.
George Russell won the qualifying in Barcelona, securing pole position for the third time this season, and on the Catalan circuit, this is almost as important as in Monaco. His teammate, championship leader Kimi Antonelli, showed the third result.
George Russell (1st): "So far, the weekend is going great! I feel like I've become myself again; I can say that I'm managing things on every lap, and I'm always in contention for the top positions.
Of course, the previous few races didn't go as we would have liked for various reasons, but before this weekend, I tried to leave all that in the past; I have a good mindset, and I'm very happy to have secured pole.
Tomorrow we have an interesting race ahead, especially since Lewis had a great qualifying and showed the 2nd fastest time – that really surprised me. We thought we would be competing with Kimi and the McLaren drivers, but Lewis showed good speed throughout all today's sessions. I'm sure we are in for a serious battle, so tomorrow won't be easy, but I'm ready for it."
Kimi Antonelli (3rd): "This weekend, I'm having some difficulties; I can't achieve a comfortable feeling behind the wheel, although yesterday in practice, I had a pretty good long run, and that was definitely a positive moment. Today, I was a bit lacking in speed, but I'm determined to make up for it tomorrow.
We'll try to start well, after which, of course, we'll attempt to take full advantage of the slipstream. But, of course, we will have to work hard to prepare for tomorrow's Grand Prix."
