The Toyota team won the race at Le Mans for the sixth time.

The Toyota factory team won the "24 Hours of Le Mans," marking its sixth such achievement at the legendary Sarthe circuit. Of course, this marathon always demands tremendous exertion, and yet, it can be said that some previous successes came relatively easily, but today the battle for victory was extremely fierce, with crews from different teams contending for the lead at various stages of the race. At the finish, four hypercars from three different manufacturers were separated by just 32 seconds. The marathon winner, Kamui Kobayashi, driving the Toyota TR010 Hybrid, saw the checkered flag nearly 11 seconds before BMW driver Robin Frijns, who denied the Japanese team a winning double. 47 minutes before the finish, he made a bold maneuver exiting the Porsche curves to overtake Sébastien Buemi, who was driving Toyota No. 8. Will Stevens, a driver for the Cadillac factory team, finished in fourth place, having also led for quite a while during the marathon, but ultimately lost to Kobayashi by more than 32 seconds. This is Toyota's first victory since 2022 and, by the way, the first for Nyck de Vries, who is racing in the same crew as Kobayashi and Mike Conway. In the previous three years at Le Mans, Ferrari hypercars dominated, but today the Italian team had to settle for only fifth place. While Toyota prepared an upgraded Hypercar category car for this season, Maranello plans to update its sports prototype in 2027. Last year's winners, the AF Corse crew consisting of Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye, and Phil Hanson, finished the race in seventh place, allowing the Alpine hypercar to pass them in the last hour of the marathon. In the LMP2 category, the Inter Europol Competition crew (Tom Dillmann, Jakub Smiechowski, and Nick Yelloly) took first place, but interestingly, their teammates from this Polish team (Bidzoy Garg, Reshad de Gheru, and Nico Müller) secured the second result in the class. In LMGT3, experienced professionals Nicky Catsburg, Ben Keating, and their young teammate Johnny Edgar achieved success – they compete for the British team TF Sport in a Chevrolet Corvette sports car.

It should be added that more than 350,000 fans watched the events at the Sarthe circuit from the grandstands of the racetrack and its nearby surroundings. After the triumphant finish, Kamui Kobayashi said: "We have waited a long time for this victory. We have finished second many times, and now we have achieved our second win! The week was very challenging; we had issues with the drive sensor, tire punctures, so we had to overcome all these difficulties, but in the end, we succeeded because everyone worked hard!"
