The FIA has lifted the limit on the number of presidential terms.

We talked about the plans of FIA President Mohammed ben Sulayem to amend the FIA statute to abolish the limit on the number of presidential terms for one person and allow for unlimited re-election. On Thursday, a vote took place at the FIA General Assembly in Macau, where national automobile clubs that are part of the FIA approved the proposal to lift the term limits for the organization's president. According to BBC Sport, the initiative was approved with 90.71% of the votes. However, an official FIA representative has not yet confirmed the exact figure, as he stated that the vote counting is still ongoing. The decision allows 64-year-old Mohammed ben Sulayem to remain in the position of FIA president even after three terms of four years each. Currently, there is an age limit of 70 years for candidates for the position of FIA president. However, according to sources familiar with his intentions, Ben Sulayem plans to seek the abolition of this limit as well. According to them, Ben Sulayem's goal is to be able to hold the position of FIA president for life.
