Alex Albon: High-speed corners are our weak point
Three drivers worked behind the wheel of Williams cars on Friday – in the first practice, Luke Browning replaced Carlos Sainz…
Alex Albon (17th): “Today we had issues with pace. We didn’t expect such difficulties on this track, but the heat affected tire wear.
High-speed corners are our weak point, while in slow sections we don’t concede to our rivals. We need to find a way to improve.
We’re not falling behind because we’re not putting in enough effort – we’re trying different options, but haven’t found the right balance yet. With a small amount of fuel, the car is more efficient than with full tanks. We need to analyze everything tonight and come up with a plan that considers both qualifying and race pace.”
Carlos Sainz (18th): “Missing the first practice always complicates things a bit, but Luke did a great job. The second session had its problems, but I still managed to cover the necessary distance.
Unfortunately, we are very far from the leaders. We need to find a solution overnight to try to make it into the second part of qualifying tomorrow.
The weekend will be challenging for us due to the heat and the fast nature of the track, but I will do everything to maximize our potential.”
Luke Browning (18th in the first session): “Today in the first practice, I gained new experience. This is a completely different car compared to last year’s tests and tests in previous years. I’m glad to get to know it and work on the track.
I think I adapted quickly, especially after switching to Soft, and I’m very pleased with my performance. Gradually, I felt more confident in braking and high-speed sections. I’m looking forward to the next opportunity to get behind the wheel.”
